Protesting against the Centre's policy on privatization and outsourcing, Over 10 lakh bank employees including branch managers from the 27 public sector banks and private sector banks will go on a one-day strike on July 28.

In a joint news conference, All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA), All India Bank Officers' Association (AIBOA) and Bank Employees' Federation of India (BEFI) leaders said if the government continued to pursue 'these anti-people' policies further, agitational programmes, including repeat strike actions would be carried out jointly by the three associations.

Pointing out nearly one lakh vacancies in the banks remained unfilled, they said the deliberate ban on recruitment and non-filling up of vacancies was ''unjustified'' as there was a huge unemployment in the country.

The finance minister has termed the strike as unfortunate
