Infosys Technologies Ltd will expand its business process outsourcing (BPO) operations in the Czech Republic and ramp up capacity for providing IT services to its European customers.
According to a company statement here Wednesday, a new 350-seat facility will come up at Brno by January 2007, doubling its existing capacity.
‘The expansion of our near-shore operations in the Czech Republic, the opening of the second onshore development centre at Swindon in Britain, the onshore development centre in Germany and the near-shore operations in Mauritius reflect the increasing adoption of outsourcing by European firms,’ said B.G. Srinivas, head of Infosys’ European operations.
The sites are built to ensure that skill capabilities match the requirements in Europe, including local languages, cultures and adhere to European Union (EU) regulations.
‘The debate is not about near-shore versus off-shore, but about effective global sourcing - outsourcing to the right location, with the right skill, where it makes most economic sense,’ Srinivas noted.
The Brno facility, set up in 2004, handles business processes such as sales order management, finance and accounts, market research and underwriting for clients across 16 European countries.
