India's latest low cost carrier, IndiGo has announced plans to take to the skies from August 1 but for a small problem that its fleet is yet to arrive.

IndiGo surprised many aviation watchers when it announced it was ordering 100 aircraft from Airbus. It is one of the biggest orders for any domestic airline at the 2005 Paris air show. All these aircraft are single aisle carriers and most of them are A-320s.

IndiGo management is anxious to get the green signal from the Civil Aviation Ministry and hopes that the arrival of their fleet will ensure all regulatory approvals.

Bruce Ashby, president and CEO of IndiGo said: ''IndiGo is all about bringing our customers fares that are always affordable with a service that is always reliable, provided by a team that is knowledgeable and professional.'' ''IndiGo will cater to the needs of the modern Indian traveler who does not want to waste time, money or energy in the process of traveling,'' he said.
