Himachal Handicrafts Not Made In Himachal Anymore?

Himachal Pradesh's famed traditional handicrafts are hardly available at the showrooms in the state because the products are increasingly being made in other states rather than in Himachal.

The Himachal Pradesh State Handicrafts and Handloom Corp Ltd (HPHHCL), a state-run company set up over three decades ago to promote artisans from the hill state, has entered into agreements with other state and private handicraft companies to sell their trendy products to step up sales.

The state run company is offering look-alike handicrafts made in factories of Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and western Uttar Pradesh which some observers feel is unfair to both the customer and artisans of the state.
