Following China's success with implementing Next Generation Internet projects, India is all set to get its native IPv6 network which will expand the number of available Internet addresses and improve routing and network configuration. IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) is an upgrade to the existing Internet Protocol version 4.

The IPv6 Forum India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the China IPv6 Council in this regard. The Indian forum hopes to learn from China's deployment of its Next Generation Internet (CNGI), which is one of the world's largest native IPv6 production networks.IPv6 Forum India and China IPv6 Council will conduct joint research and trials on standardization, address policing, and share know-how and experience for inter-operability testing, certification and authorization.
