By Indiapressagency.com on July 28,2006

According to industry observers and credit rating agency ICRA, Tea
exports from India are likely to do rise during the current year
after more than 16% production dip in major exporting country Kenya.

India's tea export declined 5.1 per cent in 2005 to about 1.88 lakh
MT while export price per kg also declined to Rs 90 last year
 from Rs 93 in 2004.

But all this is set to change as India can take advantage of due to
lower projected output in Kenya. UK, the second major tea importer
in the world, offers another market that India can take advantage of
due to lower projected output in Kenya.

Two-third of India's tea production is of the CTC variety. Indian
tea quality is considered to be at par with the Kenyan tea.
