No Extension Of Deadline for Filing Returns

By Indiapressagency.com on July 25,2006

The income tax department has ruled out any extension in date for the salaried class, although the dates for the filing of non-auditable accounts have been extended to October 31 from July 31.

Non-auditable accounts are furnished by those businesses which have annual turnover of less than Rs 40 lakh per annum and those professionals having income of less than Rs 10 lakh per annum. These include partners of the firms and charitable trusts and institutions.

In a move to avoid the last minute rush, over 2,000 designated post offices in the country will also be allowed to accept returns from July 26 onwards, provided returns are filed along with an envelope and details like permanent number are furnished on the envelope.
